Ashraf Chaudhary
Dr. Choudhary, former NZ MP (2002–2011), is a respected agricultural engineering expert with 25+ years at Massey University. He served on the Counties Manukau District Health Board (2016–2019) and has been an Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board member since 2016. He champions greater community involvement in local decisions and sees Manukau as a thriving multicultural hub. Dr. Choudhary is a long-time Manukau resident active in many community projects. Honoured with the Queen’s Service Order for his contributions to ethnic communities and agricultural conservation, he also serves as a Justice of the Peace.
Avinash Dhaliwal
Avinash Kaur Dhaliwal is a proud Papatoetoe local, mother, Justice of the Peace, Marriage Celebrant, and dedicated community worker. With a Commerce degree and experience in technical support, customer service, and small business ownership, she is committed to lifelong learning and service. From migrant to community leader, Avinash is grateful for Aotearoa’s opportunities and driven to give back. She lives Sikh values of Seva (selfless service), compassion, and unity. She’s ready to serve Papatoetoe with heart and dedication.
Vi Hausia
Vi Hausia is proud to have served his first term as Deputy Chair of the Ōtara-Papatoetoe Local Board. Born and raised in South Auckland, he combines lived experience with his role as Senior Stormwater Asset Management Engineer at NZTA – Auckland Motorways. With qualifications in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Project Management, Vi makes practical, informed decisions for the community. He has championed local priorities, safeguarded key assets, and fought for fair funding. But challenges remain – improving safety, managing housing intensification pressures, protecting green spaces, and strengthening pathways for youth voices. Vi believes in Papatoetoe’s potential and is committed to helping it thrive. He asks for your support to keep delivering for you and your family.
Raj Singh
Raj Singh – lawyer, business owner, and proud Papatoetoe local – brings proven leadership and a passion for service. Living with his wife Ashima, son Samar, and daughter Samaira, Raj is deeply invested in his community’s future. As Chair of the Papatoetoe Cricket Club and Past President of the Rotary Club Papatoetoe, he has built partnerships, led teams, and delivered results that unite people. Principal of Legal Associates, a multicultural law firm, he champions fairness and inclusion for South Auckland’s diverse communities. Guided by Labour values of equity, opportunity, and empowerment, Raj’s vision is to make Papatoetoe a safer, vibrant, and thriving hub for families and businesses. Experienced and compassionate, he will represent with integrity and purpose.
